profile

Nikki Toon qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2007, earning her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy from Manchester Metropolitan University. During her early rotations at Salford Royal Hospital, she developed a keen interest in neurology. A paediatric rotation solidified her passion, leading her to specialise in Paediatric Neurology in 2012 at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

In 2014, Nikki began working privately, where she trained under Dr. Taub’s team, pioneers in Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT). She became one of the first therapists in the UK to apply this innovative technique. Since then, she has dedicated her career to CIMT and Bimanual Therapy, constantly researching and refining her practice. Nikki has completed Brian Hoare’s Advanced Bimanual Therapy Course and is an active member of his CP teaching membership, continuing to learn from trusted specialists within the field.

Since 2020, Nikki has provided consulting services for other therapists within the field, offering her expertise to help with complex or challenging cases. She is a trusted resource for knowledge and innovation in CIMT and Bimanual Therapy, ensuring her techniques remain at the forefront of evidence based care. Nikki also has a specialist interest in accommodating treatment for children with Autism and ADHD, tailoring her therapy sessions to meet their unique needs and ensuring they feel supported throughout their journey.

In 2016, Nikki founded Helping Hemi Hands with a vision to provide accessible, timely and enjoyable therapy for children. She believes therapy should be as rewarding for families as it is effective for children, empowering parents to feel confident in their child’s progress.

Her clinic is based in her home, creating a welcoming, nonclinical environment where families can relax with free flowing tea, coffee and a comfy sofa.
