Kanasu received a very early diagnosis and her parents were keen to do all they could to make the most of the brains first two years of super neuroplasticity. They completed lots of early intervention with local therapists in India but felt that they needed more specialist help as they kept being told - she will develop that in her own time or we are not sure how to work on that.
Her parents found Helping Hemi Hands and signed up to the 8 week online guided MCIMT program. This family are certainly an advocate of you get out what you put in and they used the personalised program given from online assessments and the online educational modules to complete the therapy at home.
Kanasu made some great improvement during the 8 week block and parents continued to have 3 monthly zoom calls to review and update her program. Kanasu then went on to attend a three week therapy block in person to boost the improvement in her skills and teach parents how to complete some of the trickier shaping for her high level skills.
She uses both hands in most play tasks independently now and will continue to do so meaning that she will not lose this ability or range of motion and when she is old enough therapy can really focus on the hardest skills without having to undo habits and work on muscle length.
Kanasu and her family continue with regular online updates and she is planning to return to work on functional skills when she is a little older.
